SJHM to Mark Children’s Dental Health Month With ‘2 For 2’ Event in Columbia

10:30 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 11) at Park Elementary School

LANCASTER, Pa. (Feb. 9, 2009) – Baseball hitters who go 2-for-2 have a perfect batting average. Going “2 For 2” with a toothbrush instead of a bat makes for a healthy smile.

That’s the message that St. Joseph Health Ministries will deliver Wednesday (Feb. 11) when its “2 For 2” event visits the Columbia Borough School District in Lancaster County.
2 For 2 starts at 10:30 a.m. in the gymnasium at Park Elementary School, 50 S. Sixth St., Columbia. The news media is encouraged to cover this event.

Helping to mark National Children’s Dental Health Month in February, 2 For 2 takes its name from the dental community’s recommendation that children and adults brush their teeth at least twice daily – for two minutes at a time – for good oral health.

Some 60 Park Elementary students will learn proper brushing and flossing techniques, take the 2 For 2 pledge and be challenged to track their brushing and flossing daily. A small group of students will brush for two minutes while their classmates count down the time.

St. Joseph Health Ministries operates the children’s oral health initiative “Brush. Brush. Smile!®” Since its debut in 2004, Brush. Brush. Smile!® has provided nearly $2.5 million worth of free dental care and oral health education to more than 16,000 children in Lancaster County’s 16 school districts.

St. Joseph Health Ministries (www.sjhm.org) improves the health of children in need within Lancaster County.
