Dr. Anjali Puri joins dental team

anjali puriSt. Joseph Health Ministries, which operates the Brush. Brush. Smile! children’s oral health initiative, has named Dr. Anjali Puri to its dental team.

Puri most recently served her general practice residency at the University of Florida School of Dentistry. At the same time, she was a volunteer at the Tacachale Dental Clinic in Gainesville, Fla., providing comprehensive dental care to special-needs patients.

Puri attended Villanova University on a full academic scholarship, graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Next, she attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she was a two-time winner of the school’s dental medicine talent show. During dental school, she participated in a pediatric dentistry externship at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.

With St. Joseph Health Ministries, she joins a full-time dental team whose members include two dentists, a dental hygienist and four dental assistants.

Brush. Brush. Smile!‘s two 40-foot mobile dental clinics – each known as the “Brush Brush Bus” – provide free dental care to economically disadvantaged children throughout Lancaster County.

Since its debut in 2004, Brush. Brush. Smile! has provided more than $2.3 million worth of free dental care and oral health education to 32,000 children in Lancaster County’s 16 school districts.

St. Joseph Health Ministries (www.sjhm.org) improves the health of children in need within Lancaster County.
